I realised I missed a few episodes so it's time to catch up! This episode begins with August installing a Regina-proof lock on Mary Margaret and Emma's abode. Emma questions where he learnt this skill, being a writer and all. "Wood shop" is his answer. I am so sure but once again Emma's detective skills are less than...accurate. Emma tells them that she is going to launch a custody battle against Regina with the help of Mr. Gold. I don't know about you but this doesn't seem like the most solid plan ever so a typical Emma plan then. Mary Margaret, fresh from her stint behind bars, patronizes Emma with the information that if she won the battle she would be Henry's mom. Well spotted, Mary Margaret! They are interrupted by an urgent phone call from Henry saying they need to have an emergency meeting at Granny's-turns out a new story has been added to the book! It's Pinocchio. Time for a trip to fairy tale land where Pinocchio and his father
Master Braytac are out at sea in the storm. Pinocchio's father wants to save him but Pinocchio rightly points out that he is wood and will float. They wake up the next morning on the beach, Pinocchio sadly deceased. Just in time the
boob Blue fairy shows up and makes Pinocchio into a real boy and promises he will stay that way--as long as he's a good boy. Back in Storybrooke August rings up Mr.Gold with news that there is a problem with Emma and then heads down to Mr. Gold's pawn shop and advice emporium, but not before demonstrating that he really is turning back into wood. He confesses to Mr. Gold that he is having a hard time making Emma believe and Mr. Gold promises his help. Meanwhile, Mayor Regina heads to Henry's school where Mary Margaret tells her in no uncertain terms that she thinks that it was Regina who framed her and Sidney Glass is only taking the fall. Regina threatens to take Henry out of Mary Margaret's class but Henry tells her, in no uncertain terms, that he will not be leaving Mary Margaret's class. Yikes, if I were Mayor Regina I would be going home with my tail between my legs after being schooled by these two. Back in Fairy Tale Land, Pinocchio is demonstrating his clock fixing (and Jiminy torturing) skills when they are interrupted by the Blue Fairy who tells them that they need to build a wardrobe to save Emma (and everyone else). Geppetto agrees to make the wardrobe but only if one of the only two people that can fit in the wardrobe is Pinocchio, since if they go to another land without magic the boy will turn back into wood. Jiminy gives many speeches about right and wrong and Geppetto rightly tells him he isn't one to talk after annihilating Gepetto's parents and all. Back in Storybrooke Regina's car has broken down, or should I say "broken down". Conveniently, David walks by and offers to give her a ride home, since she has been such a good friend, you know. In return she cooks him lasagna and regales him with stories of how she found him by the side of the road...like they were meant to be together. WHAT? She goes in for the kiss but David isn't having any of that. I just don't understand what is going on with this character. Regina is supposed to be the bad guy, she isn't supposed to be sympathetic and if the writers want her to be sympathetic then she can't be the sole villain. Argh. Anyway, back in Fairy land the Blue Fairy arrives to announce that their plans vis a vis the wardrobe aren't going that well. Snow White has had her baby and they have to put her in the wardrobe immediately, being that she's just a baby and all she will need her mother and therefore Pinocchio can't go. Geppetto refuses and says that Pinocchio will help the baby and guide her. Um, great idea Geppetto! Jiminy, that cricket of great moral fortitude, suddenly changes his mind and says that it's a good idea and Pinocchio must help Emma believe when she is an adult. Back in Storybrooke, August is doing his best to make Emma believe, by dragging her into the woods and telling her how he found her in a blanket that said Emma, as if this little tidbit is going to convince her since a.)it's not that far fetched for a baby to be found in a blanket with HER own name on it and b.) the blanket has made many appearances so far. They rehash everything we've learned so far from the series. Everyone is Storybrooke is a fairy tale character, Emma must save them but SHE DOESN'T believe, etc etc etc. For his final touch August collapses in pain, Emma cold heartedly tells him he is clearly sick. He shows her his wooden leg only since she has an advance state of denial she only sees a normal leg. August goes all Princess Leia on Emma and says she's their only hope. Emma tells him they're all screwed. Ha! I love Emma. August feels pretty bad about...well, everything and soon we find out why. Back when they were just a strangely dressed young boy and baby in a blanket with her own name on it, August abandoned Emma for greener pastures. You see, they were in a bad foster home because
Once Upon a Time HATES foster families. Anyway, back in modern days, depressed August goes to talk to his dad, Marco, who obviously doesn't know who he is. He confesses that he hasn't been a good person, his mission has failed etc. Marco comforts him and they decide to work together. Emma embarks on an adventure of her own by kidnapping Henry. Argh. I think the combined intelligence of the people on this show would equal one normal person!
