So Once Upon A Time is back after the break and with, let's face it, a pretty decent episode. In Storybrooke (ugh, I still hate that name!) Emma is dutifully taking over the Sheriff's role, until the Mayor swoops in to tell her that she has appointed the newspaper editor as the new Sheriff. Emma is all "oh hell no" and decides that there should be a race as it were, to see who will be elected as Sheriff. Let's just say the newspaper editor doesn't stand a chance. Meanwhile Henry is depressed because of well, everything. Over in Fairy Tale land we learn of Rumplestiltskin's humble beginnings. Once upon a time he wasn't an evil villain but a humble farmer with a son, all his teeth and a bouffant of a hair do. Fearing that his son will be dragged off to the Ogre Wars (!) he decides to run away wherein we learn a.) his son's name is Bae NOT babe, as I thought it was, b.) he (Rumplestiltskin)once ran away too and that's why his wife left him. Rumplestiltskin and Bae meet a beggar who tells them that all they have to do is steal the dagger belonging to the "dark one" who is some uber bad guy (who looks just like Anubis for anyway who ever accidentally watched a Stargate Marathon on the Space Channel) and they will have power beyond their wildest dreams and won't need to go the Ogre Wars (frankly, a shame because these must be awesome). Rumplestiltskin goes off to acquire the dagger which we all know really belongs to the beggar. When he summons the dark one/beggar he promptly kills him thus turning himself into the powerful Gollum creature we know him as. Back in Storybrooke the Mayor and Emma are caught in a fire set by good ol' Rumplestiltskin/Gold himself. Obviously Emma saves the Mayor and goes off to the debate where she admits that she has a bad past and that Gold started the fire. She wins anyway, because, duh. However, she has been outwitted by Gold again who wants her to be the mayor so she will one day be able to do him a favour. Ominous. I have to say, I greatly enjoyed this episode and being that the only WTF? moment was the hats worn by Mary Margaret, Prince Charming and Riding Hood, overall I can't complain. But seriously! Look at these bad boys. Please forgive the horrible screen-capping but holy hats, the look on Red Riding Hood's face more or less sums up my feelings about their headgear.
