Happiness
Sometimes, for example when watching a period piece, or being unable to sleep, I wonder if people 400, 500, 1000 years ago suffered from things like depression. I mean, it is a disease, so it can't have just cropped up, although actually that happens all the time so never mind. And, ok, when I think about it, they were probably to busy warding off the plague, avoiding vikings and trying to remember Beowulf 1000 years ago to be worrying about their personal happiness. I guess what I am saying is that, a lot of times I hear people talk about unhappiness like it IS the plague. And that not only is it something to be avoided at all costs but it's also sort of your fault. I mean, we have great lives don't we? We have everything anyone could ever want right? I agree. My life is very comfortable but that doesn't stop me and everyone else from feeling unhappiness in life. And frankly, I find it frustrating that the responses to being unhappy are most often "it could be worse" "get over it" "at least you aren't dying in Africa". Without wanting to sound ungrateful for what I have, I think it's time to face the fact that, yeah, even here in the cozy west we have unhappiness. Just don't talk about it on Face
